Online Booking Service

DBR is now offering Online Bookings for regular maintenance services and general repairs.

With an Online Booking you can book in a cleaning service or minor/general repair to be completed in a short timeframe at your convenience. Please call or contact us if you are concerned that your job might be bigger than this timeframe allows.

We expect to have your Online Booking done as quickly as possible, but we do not guarantee it will be ready any sooner than three business days after arrival at our shop. Requests for a faster turn-around may be granted when possible but incur at least a 20% labour surcharge for the expedited service.

While your instrument is with us for service or repair, we have several instruments available for rent to our Online Booking customers. These range from student to intermediate level instruments and cost $20 to $60 for the duration of your Online Booking service to be completed. Please let us know if you are interested in renting an instrument and we will see if we have something available. 

Terms and conditions:

  1. WE DO NOT REPAIR OR SERVICE WOODWIND INSTRUMENTS, THIS INCLUDES SAXOPHONES.  . Erroneous bookings will be cancelled if noticed by our staff prior to the appointment. 
  2. Online Booking services are available weekdays only.
  3. Online Booking services are not available on public holidays.
  4. Online Booking services are strictly booked into the schedule on a first come first served basis.
  5. Only one instrument can be scheduled per appointment.
  6. Your instrument must be in the shop no later than the day of your booking. We cannot guarantee we can fit a late arrival into our schedule.
  7. In most cases, turnaround will be quicker than three days. However, we do not guarantee that your instrument will be ready in less than three business days, unless accepted as an Expedited Service (see section 11 below).
  8. Three business day turnaround:
    1.  The three-business day turnaround commences at the time of drop-off. Your expected completion time is the same time you dropped it off for service/repair three business days later. (Example: You drop off your instrument at 3pm, you pick it up at 3pm - 3 business days later).
    2. Business days are Monday through Friday. Weekends are not included as a business day.
    3. NSW public holidays and 1 July, our stocktake day, are not included as business days.
    4. Example: an instrument dropped off 10:30am Monday will have an expected completion no later than 10:30am Thursday (drop-off Tuesday - completion Friday / drop-off Wednesday - completion Monday / drop-off Thursday - completion Tuesday / drop-off Friday - completion Wednesday).
  9. It is not a problem to bring your instrument in any day prior to the scheduled appointment. In cases where the instrument arrives early, the three-day expected turnaround commences at 9am on the date of your appointment, not on the arrival date.
  10. Upon completion, immediate collection of your instrument is not necessary. We will safely store your instrument at no cost for a month, longer if prior arrangements have been made. Please note that additional charges for a rental instrument could apply for late collection (see section 14 below).
  11. Expedited Service:
    1. Requests for a quicker turnaround ("Expedited Service") will be considered upon our availability and in-person inspection of the instrument.
    2. All accepted Expedited Services will have a labour surcharge.
    3. Labour surcharges range from 20-40%.
    4. Labour surcharges increase commensurate to the time requested for the work to be completed. 
      1. 2 day turnaround 20%
      2. 1 day turnaround 30%
      3. Same day turnaround 40%
    5. Requests for a quicker turnaround made after drop-off will be treated as an Expedited Service and charged accordingly.
  12. We will notify you as soon as possible if your instrument will take longer than three days to turnaround due to any of the following conditions:
    1. Severely stuck slides or other parts requiring extra time to free without causing damage to the instrument. Freeing a badly stuck part can take days for penetrating oil to work.
    2. More serious repairs are needed than the first inspection revealed.
    3. Required replacement parts are not readily available.
    4. A specific technician is not available to do a specific task due to illness or personal leave.
    5. Needed machinery or tooling is broken or unavailable.
    6. Weather conditions are unfavourable (specifically when lacquering is involved).
  13. We will contact you as soon as your instrument is ready. Please do not call for regular status updates prior to your expected completion time. Repeated phone calls for status updates prior to the expected completion of an instrument take valuable time and interrupt our workflow. Repeated phone calls will result in the service either being charged as an Expedited Service and/or the addition of labour charges for the time spent on the phone.
  14. Rental Instruments:
    1. A limited number of instruments are available on a first come first serve basis.
    2. Rental rates for instruments range from $20 to $60 for repair duration plus one day (24 hours) for collection after the repair is expected for completion. (Example: Drop off Monday 12pm, expected completion is Thursday 12pm, rental instrument is due by Friday 12pm).
    3. Rental rates for instruments are based on the value of the instrument provided.
    4. We cannot guarantee an instrument will be available prior to your appointment day.
    5. Rental instruments returned to us more than one business day after your Online Booking service is completed will result in additional daily rental charges.
    6. The rental instrument must be returned in the same condition as it was received. Physical damage to rental instruments will result in additional charges.
    7. Any delay of our fault in the return of your Online Booking service will result in the free use of the rental instrument until your instrument is ready and collected plus the refund of any rental fees already collected.
