Consignments and Second-hand Purchases

Diefes Brass Repair is a Licensed second-hand dealer in NSW and complies to state and federal regulations pertaining to the sale and purchase of second-hand musical instruments.

DBR specializes in intermediate to professional level brass musical instruments. All instruments and musical gear purchased or consigned by DBR must reach our standards of acceptability*. We offer a service that is detailed and time consuming so it may not be appropriate for lower value instruments. The costs are reflected in our tiered consignment rates. We generally do not accept instruments valued below $1000 for consignment and recommend such instruments be sold directly by the owner via any of the many online marketplaces.

Our consignment services include:

  • detailed photos
  • written accurate description and condition assessment
  • display in our showroom
  • regular and ongoing maintenance whilst in our care
  • one year buyer warranty
  • publication on our website
  • posting on our Facebook page
  • secure and insured storage at our Babbage St. storefront

Our consignment services do not include:

  • repair and servicing: DBR provides maintenance of the instrument during our possession and buyer warranty after the sale. We therefore do not sell instruments that are not in top playing condition. Servicing and repair costs are not included in our consignment service. Servicing and repairs must be paid in full prior to consignment. Quotes can be provided.

Terminating Consignments:

  • The consignee can terminate the agreement at any time to collect their property.
