The JP171SW is a high specification Bb student cornet designed and manufactured in collaboration with Smith-Watkins, one of the UK’s leading trumpet and cornet developers. The JP171SW provides students an affordable instrument that features many components normally reserved for more expensive models. The instrument has been very well regarded within the music industry, Chris Deacon of the Royal Ballet Symphonia reviewed it saying “the intonation is excellent, and feels even throughout the full range and at the different dynamic level”, he went on to say “It’s great that beginners will be able to play such a high quality instrument at an affordable price. John Packer Ltd have worked closely with internationally renowned trumpet and cornet designers and manufacturers Smith-Watkins and have worked personally with Dr Richard Smith to ensure that the JP171SW benefits from the prestige of Smith-Watkins’ instruments. An exclusive and specially designed Smith-Watkins leadpipe was created for the cornet driving excellent articulation and sound projection. The JP171SW also features adjustable 1st and 3rd valve slides, high tolerance monel valves and features a rose brass bell and leadpipe enabling the instrument to achieve a highly attractive tone.
The JP171SW is supplied with a JP603 (4B) mouthpiece as standard and comes equipped with a high quality case for maximum protection. The case is lightweight, well-designed and attractively styled. Backpack straps and a comfortable shoulder strap are included as standard. The case also includes a small storage pocket accessible from the outside of the case. This enables players to store small accessories and sheet music with their instrument.
