Arnold Jacobs Heritage Mouthpiece:

Sometime in the late 1980's, Arnold Jacobs gave Canadian Brass founder and tubist Charles Daellenbach his unique mouthpiece to duplicate. Daellenbach did just that, and made copies available on a small scale to others around the world. Now he has collaborated with Robert Tucci of Perantucci Mouthpieces to produce additional copies true to the original, making them available to the wider tuba-playing public.

Arnold Jacobs, legendary musician and teacher, was famous for his sound. This possessed a vibrant core, great intensity and sonority, unsurpassed tonal beauty and unlimited dynamic range. His mouthpiece was unique; refined to a high point of sophistication and efficiency. The Arnold Jacobs Heritage offers a unique sound, dark in character. The core is clearly defined yet strong and broad. Response is even and flows over a broad compass, the low register is highly efficient and the high range has great stability.

This mouthpiece will not make you sound like Jake. Neither will a certain York tuba, brand of shoes or any of a number of other mechanical gizmos. Only tons of practice, the right concept and excellent breathing, accompanied by the right horn, and perhaps this mouthpiece, will get you in the ballpark.

The Jacobs mouthpiece project has now grown into a series of tuba mouthpieces designed by Robert Tucci in Germany and sold by the Canadian Brass. Canadian brass founding tubist Charles Daellenbach, along with founding trombonist Gene Watts, were both students of the great Arnold Jacobs. Based upon the early success of the Jacobs mouthpiece, Mr. Daellenbach and Mr. Tucci worked together to produce some updated versions of some classic and popular mouthpiece designs.

Arnold Jacobs, legendary musician and teacher, was famous for his sound. This possessed a vibrant core, great intensity and sonority, unsurpassed tonal beauty and unlimited dynamic range. His mouthpiece was unique and refined to a high point of sophistication and efficiency. Surely the most sophisticated tuba mouthpiece ever; elegant in design, live and responsive. The Arnold Jacobs Heritage offers a unique sound, dark in character. The core is clearly defined yet strong and broad. MB-64 Mouthpiece:

ollectors of Chicago Symphony (Orchestra) recordings know that Arnold Jacobs' sound on the F-tuba had the same richness, depth of tone and character as with the CC-tuba.

The MB-64 is ideal for Eb and F-tubas, a virtuoso mouthpiece, ideal for solo and chamber music performance as well thomann for execution of high-range orchestral passages. It has noticeable positive resistance resulting in particularly good response., remarkable flexibility, rich tonal color and core. Special attention has been given to the character to provide great breath of sound while retaining a clear and slightly thomann bright quality well into the high range as well as secure response on low notes. The MB-64 takes the fact that F-tubas are larger and better than ever into consideration. Based on proven design criteria, it is a step forward in the brasswind arts.

MB-83 Mouthpiece:

With the same elegant exterior as the Arnold Jacobs Heritage mouthpiece the Canadian Brass Model MB83 is an easy to use, "Instant Access" mouthpiece. There are reasons: they are not overly large yet produce sound which has strong fundamental. The upper register is secure (fundamental lock-in and not dancing about on overtones). The MB-83 with it's diameter of 32.0mm, deep funnel cup and exceptionally large throat bore, offers a dark and resonant sound for those musicians who prefer this diameter.

The MB-83 is similar but we feel better than the famous Conn Helleberg 7B.

Cup Diameter: 32 mm diameter. Long V-shaped funnel.

Rim width 7.5 mm. Moderately round with clearly pronounced inner edge.

Bore : 8.5 mm

The Canadian Brass MB83 offers players who prefer a medium width cup a distinct but dark sound. The inner rim provides quick response which is comfortable and flowing in all registers. The MB-83 is designed for use with CC and BBb tubas, works particularly well on medium-bore instruments.
